The Zaragoza of the Expo

Zaragoza hosted the International Exposition “Water and sustainable Development” (World´s Fair)during the summer 2008. The Expo legacy left several first level buildings and engineering works around the city. Unique buildings such as the Water Tower, the Bridge Pavilion, Convention Center, Aragón Pavilion or the Spain Pavilion will impress anyone who comes to visit them. It is one of the most avant-guard faces of Zaragoza city.



Aquarium

Integrated as part of the Expo site, the fresh water aquarium is 36,600 ft2 big. This means that it is the largest fresh water aquarium in Europe. It has around 5,000 specimens of 300 characteristic species of several rivers around the world (mammals, amphibious and reptiles). They are distributed in 60 fish tanks and terrarium. Recently, the aquarium acquired a family of titi Geofroy monkeys, also known as white face titi. This specie is seriously threatened by the deforestation of the Amazonas forest.

Opening hours:

Opens 7 days a week. Monday through Thursday: 10am to 7pm
Friday, Saturday, Sunday & holidays: 10am to 9pm.

Adultos: 12€; kids under: 12 5€;

4 years old and under: Free (must be accompanied by a paying addult);
65 and older: 8€.

Basic visit: 7€; guided visit 11€

School groups (2 to 17 y.o.)

Basic visit 4.80€; Guided visit 8.50€; Guided visit + educational sesion 12.50€

The 5 great rivers of the world represented in this aquarium are the Mekong River (Asia), the Nile (Africa), Amazonas (South America), the Murray-Darling (Australia) and River Ebro (Europe). The aquarium is today one of the main cultural elements in Zaragoza and it is contributing to the development and promotion of the city.
